The Driving Glove for an M State of Mind
The short answer: for a BMW M, the natural match is a glove that picks up one of the three M colours: light blue, dark blue or red. Our Rosso Acceso (red stitching) and Azzurro (light blue) do exactly that. For green or yellow M cars there are Hell Green and Diablo Giallo. Every pair is handmade in Italy from peccary leather.
Three stripes. One letter. And a steering wheel that was built to be held properly.
Every M driver knows the difference between driving a BMW and driving an M. It isn't on the spec sheet. It's in the way the car asks for your attention; the weight of the steering, the urgency of the engine, the red M buttons on the wheel waiting for a reason.
The gloves are part of answering that question. Two seconds spent pulling leather over each finger, and the commute becomes a drive.
Part of it is grip. An M wheel is thick-rimmed and often trimmed in Alcantara or nappa. On a warm day, or deep into a fast road, bare hands slip and sweat. A close-cut peccary glove keeps a consistent grip without dulling what the wheel tells you. Part of it is care. Alcantara rims are famous for wearing shiny where hands rest. Gloves keep oils and grit off the rim, so the wheel stays the way it left Garching.
And part of it is the colours. Few car brands have a colour code as recognisable as M's three stripes — light blue, dark blue and red. Add to that the famous M paint colours, from Laguna Seca Blue on the E46 M3 to Isle of Man Green and São Paulo Yellow on the latest cars, and there is always a detail worth answering.
It holds across generations. The E30 M3 driver on a Sunday morning and the G80 driver on a track day reach for the gloves for the same reason. The car changes; the ritual doesn't.

Frequently asked questions
Do driving gloves protect a BMW M Alcantara steering wheel?
Yes. Gloves keep skin oils and grit off the rim, which is what makes Alcantara shiny and worn over time.
Can I get driving gloves in all three M colours?
Yes. With the custom-made configurator you can combine light blue, dark blue and red in one pair.
Can I use the iDrive touchscreen with driving gloves?
We offer fingerless versions on request, so you can operate the screen without taking your gloves off.
Are driving gloves useful on a track day?
They give a consistent grip when your hands get warm. For racing in competition, check your series' rules for certified racing gloves.
How do I find my size?
Measure around your palm and check our driving glove size guide.
